Michael Greaney took his MChem degree at Oxford, then moved to London to carry out PhD work with William Motherwell FRS at UCL, completing his thesis in the area of new fluorinating agents in 2000. Following postdoctoral research with Jeffrey Winkler at the University of Pennsylvania, working on the total synthesis of ingenol, he returned to the UK to a lectureship position at the University of Edinburgh in 2002. He moved to his current position as Professor of Organic Chemistry at the University of Manchester in 2011.
Michael's research interests are broadly based in organic chemistry, developing new catalysis methods for better synthesis. He currently directs the EPSRC Centre for Doctoral Training (iCAT) at the University of Manchester. |
